Confused about the term “Cloud Computing”? Want to be “with the times” when you talk about new technology buzzwords? This video boils down a section of Cloud Computing, that of Cloud Infrastructure and Cloud Hosting in a way that everyone can understand! Script by Michael Sheehan youtube: HighT3chDad blog: hightechdad.com twitter twitter.com Animation / illustration by Tim Wayne youtube: redtimmy blog: timmy.vox.com twitter twitter.com A big hat tip goes out from us to the Common Craft folks who make simply the BEST “In Plain English” videos available and are very inspiring. People already have laptops to do work on . Why would everyone want to slow down work by working live on a network? Network aps are crap. Working on remote files drag. Working locally and uploading makes more sense. Dopping files onto a network on a one time basis rather than continuously waiting fo every keystroke to travel back and forth to networked files using networked aps. It’s a waste of bandwith.

Will your terrabyte (sic) external hard drive deliver content to a global audience at sub 50ms latency? Will it be able to deliver 10,000+ streams per second? Will your external hard drive replicate data to three or more data centers autonomously? On different continents?
No. No it wont. But Akamai, Limelight, Microsoft, Google and Amazon will. And they’ll bill you only for what you use.
each time i watch a video i get more confused, people have different interpretations
I disliked this,
according from to your video, there are only pros and cons doesnt exist.
but if you really want to explain something, you also have to talk about its issues.
but maybe im just wrong and this technology is nothing else but awesome.
This paperwork video style is really starting to take off. A nice, inexpensive way to make rich videos.
And so it was written in stone, that Pirates will one day take to the clouds. We will meet you at the gates, playing on stolen harps <3
thank you very much. you have explained well.
Cloud Computing is very powerful
get in the cloud!
More businesses should leverage cloud computing
This video was awesome, nicely made and very easy to understand for n00bs like me
Thank you.
Cloud computing is pointless. I can buy an external hard drive with a terrabyte for a little over $100. Like corporations can’t afford as much server space as they want with drives coming down every day. Getting everyone to work online is jut an excuse for spying on them.
1: The hosting company
2: The hosting company
3: They have access to all your files. You want a bit of privacy? Get a dedicated server.
Failcomputing…
Amazing video best explanation ever! 4 dummies lolz
You start with explaining the infrastructure, the lowest niveau of cloud-computing, but during your story the references to other elements are being forgotten.
when you have nothing to hide…you have nothing to worry
very useful video
Thank you.
This is a great video, couldnt have explained it any better, but what are the downsides of cloud computing?
thank you!! XD i don“t no idea what is the cloud computing. hahah
very useful video to explain basics of cloud computing ! thanks for uploading
But… who owns the cloud? Who do you pay for services? How much control do they have over your access to resources? These are all serious questions that need to be addressed.
Cloud simply put is like the old client-server days where clients dumb terminals. The difference being – servers are on the internet not in your LAN. Biggest drawback – your business data sits on a remote host who can do whatever they want to do with it.
