Carnegie Mellon Professor Randy Pausch (Oct. 23, 1960 – July 25, 2008) gave his last lecture at the university Sept. 18, 2007, before a packed McConomy Auditorium. In his moving presentation, “Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams,” Pausch talked about his lessons learned and gave advice to students on how to achieve their own career and personal goals. I saw this in school! I mean, not this lecture, but I saw clips of it. I also wrote an essay type thing about him.. He was a good man!

I am for the first time listening to “the last lecture” of this guy but I must say that this guy, Randy Pausch, is a quintessential about how one can happily, creatively, excitingly, meaningfully, and bravely live a fulfilling life and can lead others to do the same.
What an advantage, knowing when and how you will die! How terrifying for the rest of us, not knowing when and how to be taken into that great beyond!
1:02:00 No one “decides” this. Motivational speaking in my experience has invariably displayed a complete ignorance of neurology and cognitive science and the diversity of the human mind.
And there is no point in being exuberant when there is no reason to be so, or worse in the face of serious problems. It is tantamountly unhealthy to persist in a delusion of happiness.
